Chiropractic: The Natural Approach to Back Pain

State College, PA chiropractic back pain treatmentChiropractic is centered on the principle of allowing your body to naturally heal through spinal adjustments and lifestyle changes that stimulate overall health. For Drs. Matt & Annie Reyes, this involves working hard to reestablish your body's normal functioning to prevent the need for medications or surgical treatments. We notice that most of our State College, PA patients are relieved to find a natural approach for their health problems.

One benefit of chiropractic care is that it helps people reduce or even eliminate the use of narcotics. Prescriptions are frequently supplied to people who have back problems. This is such a significant concern that the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) issued a press release stating that opioid (painkiller) risks overshadow the benefits when prescribed for back pain.

Some of the most popular opiates, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, include hydrocodone (Vicodin), oxycodone (OxyContin and Percocet), morphine, and codeine. Figures provided by the AAN cite the fact that roughly half of the people taking these types of substances for a period of three months are still dependent on them five years later. This can further complicate the difficulty of back pain and recovery, especially if an opiate addiction occurs.

Compare that to chiropractic which features natural healing and the advantages are obvious. While a drug might be helpful at temporarily relieving the symptoms of a health condition, it's not a real solution to the problem. Drugs don't fix your damaged spine; it will only conceal the pain.

Drs. Matt & Annie Reyes will first examine you to get to the origin of your back problems and then work with you to eliminate the problem -- without risky medications.

If you're ready to get out of pain, naturally, give our State College, PA office a call at (814) 308-9352 to make an appointment with Drs. Matt & Annie Reyes.
